Electricity output rises by 4.5% in Uzbekistan, driven by small business growth
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan recorded an increase in electricity generation between January and April 2025.
According to data from the National Statistics Agency, the country produced a total of 28.96 billion kWh of electricity in the first four months of the year, marking a 4.49% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
At the same time, large enterprises saw a decline in output, generating 21.88 billion kWh — 15.44% less than the previous year.
In contrast, small businesses posted remarkable growth. These enterprises generated 7.08 billion kWh, up from just 1.85 billion kWh a year earlier — a 3.83-fold increase.
Meanwhile, the volume of thermal energy production decreased. During the reporting period, enterprises produced 9.08 million Gcal, down 9.85% compared to the same period in 2024.
