Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Sahi Annaklichev, Chairman of the Council for the Development of Private Landowners and Dehkan Farms and Expansion of Agricultural Production, conducted a working visit to Egypt, according to Dunyo.

The delegation included Chori Mirzaev, Chairman of Turonbank; Fazliddin Mukhiddinov, Director of UzAgroStar Holding; Murodjon Bozorboev, Director of Bulungur-Agro Star; Shavkat Sultonov, Head of Agro Gold Premium; and other representatives from the agricultural and financial sectors.

A key outcome of the visit was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Egyptian company EFC Plants Tissue Culture S.A.E. and Bulungur-Agro Star. The agreement provides for joint work on multiplying seed potatoes in the Bulungur district of Samarkand region, marking an important step in developing high-tech seed production in Uzbekistan.

Under the agreement, the Egyptian side delivered high-quality Hermes first-generation seed potatoes — mini-tubers G0 — to Tashkent, with a total shipment of 770 kilograms. All necessary phytosanitary and logistical requirements were observed during transportation, and the cargo was transferred from Tashkent airport to a warehouse in Samarkand.

The reception and placement of the seed material were supervised by Egyptian specialist Ali Khani, who also visited designated plots in Samarkand region. He assessed local conditions and selected the most suitable areas for seed potato cultivation based on soil analysis and water resource availability.

The project is expected to introduce advanced agricultural technologies, improve the quality of the seed stock, and contribute to increased yields and resilience of potato farming in Uzbekistan.
