EgyptAir flight lands in Uzbekistan after bomb threat

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Airplane A-330-220 of Egypt Airline, flying on route Cairo-Beijing, made an emergency landing at Urgench Airport on 8 June, Uzbekistan Havo Yollari said in a statement.

“Information on possible existence of an explosive device onboard of the A-330-220 airliner was received. There were 17 crewmembers and 118 passengers aboard,” the statement of the Uzbek airline said.

“In this regard, Uzbek aviation authorities got the request for the emergency landing of the specified airliner. At 8 am, the Egyptian airliner successfully landed at the Urgench International Airport,” the statement reads.

Now the airliner is in a safe zone. The crewmembers and the passengers are evacuated. The appropriate services perform airliner inspection and check. According to the latest reports, no explosive was found on the board of the plane.
