“Eco-Quest” Held in Tashkent to Mark World Wildlife Day

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 March, an intellectual game titled “Eco-Quest” was held at the Tashkent Zoo to mark World Wildlife Day.

The event was organized by the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change together with the Global Environment Facility, the United Nations Development Programme, the Agency for Youth Affairs, the Volunteers Association, and the zoo’s administration.

Similar games were held across all regions of the country. In total, around 2,000 environmentally active young people took part nationwide.

At the Tashkent Zoo alone, more than 100 participants completed themed tasks designed to test their knowledge of environmental protection, wildlife conservation, and the promotion of environmental awareness.

Special attention was given to the preservation of plants, animals, and birds. As part of the initiative, participants also donated animal feed to support the zoo’s fauna.

The theme of World Wildlife Day in 2026 is “Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Sustaining Health, Heritage and Livelihoods.” It highlights the importance of plants for medicine, culture, and the economy, while drawing attention to threats such as habitat loss, overharvesting, and climate change.
