EBRD delegation holds negotiations in Tashkent

The EBRD delegation held a meeting with the First Deputy Chairperson of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Sadyk Safoev.

The sides discussed perspective directions of developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EBRD.

Suma Chakrabarti said that Uzbekistan play a key role in Central Asia and expressed his satisfaction with the beginning of new stage in developing of bilateral cooperation.

The EBRD President also met with the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Achilbay Ramatov.

During the meeting, Uzbekistan and the EBRD expressed interest in strengthening and developing relations.

Chakrabarti expressed readiness of the EBRD in active participation in the reforms in Uzbekistan, attraction of investments to various industries of economy.

The sides discussed issues of realization of the projects in such sphere as metallurgy, machinery, textile industry, production of construction materials, infrastructure, investments, industry, transport and transport communications.

After the event, the sides signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, framework agreement on holding operation on Ecological Rehabilitation Account for Central Asia in Uzbekistan.

The EBRD delegation held a meeting at the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan. Representatives of the EBRD got acquainted with the social and economic development of Uzbekistan.

President of the EBRD Suma Chakrabarti also held talks at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on tourism development.

The EBRD delegation expressed readiness to cooperate in supporting of the activities of hotels for the further development of tourism in the country, development of transport communications, promotion of small business and private entrepreneurship, organization of various festivals and sports competitions.

The delegation of the EBRD also visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance, National Human Rights Center of Uzbekistan.
