Earthquake in Afghanistan shakes Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An earthquake with epicenter in Hindu Kush mountains in Afghanistan was registered in Tashkent at 14:10 on Monday, 26 October 2015.

According to the data of the European-Mediterranean Seismology Center, the magnitude at the epicenter was 7.7.

The earthquake in Tashkent was felt within several minutes. The chandeliers and furniture shook as well.

The power of tremors in Tashkent made up 5 points, according to Tashkent seismic station. The epicenter was located 500 km away from Tashkent.

The power of tremors in Samarkand was 5 points, Ferghana – 4 points, Andijan and Namangan – 3 points.

It is worth to mention that 30 minutes later, at 14:49, another earthquake with magnitude of 4.8 was recorded at Hindu Kush mountains.
