Dushanbe to host 4th round of multilateral consultations of secretaries of security councils on Afghan issues

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 May, Dushanbe will host the 4th round of multilateral consultations of secretaries of security councils on Afghan issues. This was reported Khovar agency.

As explained in the Security Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, it is planned to discuss issues "related to the development of the situation in Afghanistan, as well as challenges and threats to the states of the region emanating from Afghan territory."

Previous 3rd round of multilateral consultations of the Secretaries of Security Councils on Afghan issues took place on 10 November 2021 in New Delhi, the capital of India. It was attended by National Security Advisors/Secretaries of the Security Councils of the Republic of India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Republic of Tajikistan was represented at the meeting by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Tajikistan Nasrullo Mahmudzoda.

Participants discussed the changing situation in Afghanistan, especially in the area of security, as well as its implications for the region and the world. The parties paid special attention to both the current political situation in Afghanistan and the threats of terrorism, radicalization and drug trafficking, as well as the need for humanitarian assistance.
