Dubai-EXPO: implementation of cooperation projects discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 February 2022, a working meeting was held at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates as part of the Dubai-EXPO international exhibition with the participation of a delegation from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

As you know, today the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a strategic partner in the development of the fuel and energy complex of our country.

On 27 August 2021, on the basis of a public-private partnership with the Emirati company Masdar, the first 100 MW photovoltaic power plant in Navoi region was successfully put into operation. The station is currently operating as normal.

Also, based on the results of tenders held with the assistance of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the construction of three photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of at least 600 MW, Masdar was also announced as the leader with a proposal to build three photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 897 MW.

The country plans to implement a number of large investment projects for the construction and commissioning of wind farms. In this regard, in June 2020, power purchase agreements were signed with Masdar for the construction of a wind farm with a capacity of 500 MW.

The efficiency of implemented projects, as well as upcoming investment projects, were discussed at the workshop. In particular, it was about the possibility of cooperation in JSC "Uzbekneftegaz" and JSC "Thermal Power Plants".

During the meeting, possible joint projects of Uzbekneftegaz and TPP were discussed.
