Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 September 2022, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva received Chairwoman of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Duarte Pacheco, who arrived in our country to attend the Summit.

At the beginning of the dialogue, the Chairman of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva briefed Duarte Pacheco on the activities of the parliament of our country, in particular, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. It was especially noted that the issues of women and gender equality in our republic are considered at the level of parliament, in connection with which an appropriate committee has been created and is functioning in the upper house of parliament.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects for cooperation between the Parliament of Uzbekistan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union were also discussed.

In particular, an exchange of views took place on the implementation of new projects together with an authoritative organization, strengthening cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

In turn, Duarte Pacheco expressed gratitude for the organization of the Tashkent summit at a high level and stressed that the Inter-Parliamentary Union would continue to support the initiatives of Uzbekistan.
