Drug trafficking channel to Uzbekistan eliminated

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A channel for transporting drugs to Uzbekistan has been eliminated in Kyrgyzstan.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has been conducting a special operation since winter.

A previously convicted native of the Toktogul region, known as “Zhapai” (Wild), was detained for organizing drug trafficking through the Aksy and Ala-Buka regions. He is on the operational register of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a member of an organized criminal drug group.

As part of the operation, law enforcement officers seized 16 kg of hashish.

A criminal case has been opened and an investigation is underway. The detainee was placed in a temporary detention center.
