Drivers in Uzbekistan to receive penalty points starting from 1 June

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Beginning on 1 June 2025, Uzbekistan will implement a new penalty point system for traffic violations. The corresponding resolution has been adopted by the government.

Under the new framework, penalty points will be added to the existing sanctions for 19 types of traffic offenses. Accumulating 12 points may result in a driver’s license being suspended for up to six months.

Points will only be assigned based on official citations issued by officers of the Road Safety Service (SBDD). Violations will be recorded automatically through a dedicated digital platform known as E-jarimaball.

Drivers will be able to monitor their penalty point balance independently via the E-jarimaball system or its accompanying mobile app. Upon reaching 8 points, the system will send the driver an SMS warning. If the total reaches 12 points, the information will be forwarded to a court to consider whether administrative measures should be imposed.

If a driver successfully appeals a citation in court, the penalty points will be annulled. Once the court decision is uploaded into the E-jarimaball system, the points will be removed automatically.

Points will be assigned based on the severity of the violation. For example, operating a vehicle with a faulty braking system will incur 0.3 points; speeding will result in between 0.5 and 2 points depending on the extent of the violation; running a red light will lead to 1 point; driving into oncoming traffic and creating a hazardous situation will carry between 0.5 and 1 point; leaving the scene of an accident will incur 2 points; and improper overtaking will result in 1 point. Penalties are also foreseen for obstructing emergency vehicles (0.5 points), among other violations.
