Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Uzbekistan, drivers were allowed to use the phone while driving through headphones and other devices that allow hands-free talks.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law "On amendments and additions to the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Liability in connection with the liberalization of administrative penalties for committing certain offenses in the transport and financial spheres."

The Legislative Chamber passed the law on 18 October and the Senate approved it on 19 November. The law came into force on 1 December.

The law reduces the sanctions by 5 articles, based on the level of danger of administrative offenses. In particular, the amount of fines for non-receipt of insurance policies by vehicle owners or for management of an expired insurance policy or a person not provided for in the insurance policy, transportation of passengers without a license, violation of the passport system, illegal acquisition or sale of foreign currency values by citizens is reduced.

According to the updated article 128-1 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, using a telephone while driving without using a special device entails the imposition of a fine in the amount of 3 basic estimated values.
