Draft consular charter of Uzbekistan developed
The charter determined legal bases for activities of consular institutions of Uzbekistan in foreign states.
Consular offices protect the interests of Uzbekistan, the rights and legitimate interests of citizens and legal entities of Uzbekistan abroad.
Consular institutions also promote the development of friendly relations between Uzbekistan and other states and expand economic, trade, scientific, technical, cultural and other ties with them.
Uzbekistan establishes consular institutions in the states, with which consular relations were established.
The consular institution may be opened on the territory of a state with which consular relations have not been established and with the consent of that state.
The location of the consular institutions, its class and the consular district shall be determined in consultation with the host state.
Consular offices enjoy privileges and immunities in host state in accordance with generally recognized principles and norms of international law, international treaties to which Uzbekistan and the host State are parties.
The document also defines the functions of the consular establishment and its officials.
