Dongfang International Signs EPC Contract for Guzar Solar and Energy Storage Project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Dongfang International, a subsidiary of China’s Dongfang Electric Corporation, has signed an EPC contract for the construction of the Guzar Solar and Energy Storage project, the largest integrated solar and battery complex in Uzbekistan’s mountainous regions.

The project is being implemented in Kashkadarya region with participation from Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), while construction is entrusted to Dongfang International under the EPC contract.

The complex combines a 300-megawatt solar photovoltaic plant with a 75-megawatt-hour energy storage system, creating an integrated platform for electricity generation and storage.

Innovative features of the project include an intelligent solar panel cleaning system and a full-cycle charge-discharge system, ensuring flexible energy management and stable clean power generation.

Once operational, the complex is expected to supply electricity to approximately 60,000 households, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 400,000 tons per year, enhance grid stability, and smooth peak load fluctuations.

The project represents a significant step in Uzbekistan’s energy transition and will contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.
