Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The VI International Congress of the World Society "Cultural heritage of Uzbekistan - the basis of a new Renaissance" has begun its work. Director of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg), Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Irina Popova took part in the opening ceremony of the large-scale event.
- From the first days of the existence of the Project "Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in the Collections of the World" it was obvious that it would change the sphere, bring many new events in our direction. But I am sure that the world community could not even imagine that the initiative would reach such a scale.
The study and preservation of heritage in your country have rightfully become priorities. Why by right? I am convinced that only knowing the history, you can understand who you are. This is especially true for such states as Uzbekistan, which really has something to be proud of. Let’s look around. Everyone has a phone in their hands, in their pocket. But it is known for certain: the algorithm by which they work is built on numbers, for which we are grateful to the creator of algebra - Muhammad al-Khwarizmi. Al-Beruni in 1025 suggested the existence of North and South America long before their discovery. And this is only a small part, the main achievements of the great scientists of these lands.
Another brilliant son of Uzbekistan is Alisher Navoi, who is directly connected with the Renaissance, the second Renaissance. That is why now, on the threshold of the third Renaissance, Navoi has become one of the symbols of Uzbek culture, much attention is paid to his personality, his works are studied.
When President Shavkat Mirziyoyev addresses the youth, he speaks of the need to pay attention to those representatives of culture who can give an incentive to develop, look to the future with hope. And such a highly spiritual message is very valuable. Well, for our part, we will, of course, keep what is in our funds.
I would also like to note that culture is embodied, of course, in people. Take manuscripts, they are created by a person. He composes, rewrites, arranges, stores and publishes them. It is people who are responsible for the emergence of new art and the preservation of ancient patterns. In this context, it is impossible to overestimate the fact that Uzbekistan is a country led by caring people who advocate the preservation of an ancient culture.
I thank the World Society, the Project, and also the leadership of the republic separately for the opportunity to gather in this way for several years now, discuss achievements and problems, talk about joint projects and implement them. It is hard to imagine what else we will learn and discover during this Congress.
