Direct criminal liability is provided for administrative coercion of a minor to work

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law “On Amendments and Additions to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure Codes of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility”.

According to the amendments to the Criminal Code, criminal liability has been established for having sexual intercourse with a person between the ages of 16 and 18, knowingly for a guilty person under 18, by providing him with material values or property benefits.

A punishment of imprisonment up to 2 years may be applied to the person who committed this crime. Previously, it was possible to prosecute in case of repeated commission of this act after the application of an administrative penalty.

Also, liability is established for persuading a minor to participate in the activities of illegal public associations and religious organizations, movements, sects.

A punishment of imprisonment for up to 5 years may be applied to the person who has committed this crime.

According to the amendments made to the Code of Administrative Responsibility and the Criminal Code, it was established that a person who administratively forced a minor to work in any form is brought to direct criminal responsibility.

This Law comes into force from the day of its official publication.
