Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 November 2022, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic Uzbekistan Erkin Khamraev met with Florence Bauer, Regional Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

At the beginning of the conversation, Khamraev congratulated Florence Bauer on her appointment as UNFPA Regional Director.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNFPA were considered.

The delegation of the Fund was informed about the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan in all spheres of society, which are fully consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Florence Bauer highly appreciated the reforms being carried out in the republic, in particular, in the field of gender equality, support for women and youth, protection of motherhood and childhood.

An exchange of views took place on expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNFPA, including through the implementation of joint projects in the field of population.
