Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today in Cairo, Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov met with Deputy Minister of International Cooperation of Egypt Sherihan Bakheet.

During the talks, it was noted that the fruitful activity of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Uzbekistan and Egypt plays an important role in the development of cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres.

The parties confirmed their interest in holding the 7th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent in the second half of 2022 in order to intensify economic ties, raise trade to a qualitatively new level that meets the potential and capabilities of both countries.

During the meeting, the possibility of creating a working group and signing an agreement on cooperation between the ministries of transport of the two countries was discussed in order to reduce the logistics costs of foreign trade cargo and optimize routes.

At the meeting, the parties also expressed their interest in implementing joint projects for the production of modern building materials, pharmaceutical products, textiles, as well as the development of tourism infrastructure in the free economic zones of the two countries.
