Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Gairat Fazylov today met with Ambassador of Italy Agostino Pinna, Dunyo news agency reported.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations in the political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.
Special attention was paid to the issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, the continuation of bilateral cooperation, including within the framework of the "Italy - Central Asia" format, the UN and its structures.
At the talks, the Italian side welcomed the participation of the Uzbek delegation in the opening ceremony of the 17th Venice Biennale of Architecture and the National Pavilion of Uzbekistan on the theme "Mahalla: Urban and Provincial Life" on May 20 this year, as well as the development of interuniversity cooperation, including the study of opening a branch of the Campania University named after Luigi Vanvitelli in the Bukhara region and the University of Pisa as part of the University of Geological Sciences in Tashkent.
At the meeting, the parties also considered other topical issues of the Uzbek-Italian agenda.
