Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Restoring routes and communications between Central and South Asia is very relevant, important and necessary at the current stage of international relations. This was stated by the Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sanat Kushkumbayev on the eve of the High-Level International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”.

According to the Kazakh expert, regional interconnection between Central and South Asia is an extremely relevant topic, now, when integration processes are taking place in the region, cooperation between states is growing. In his words, it is very important to establish transport and communication links in order to improve economic connectivity between regions.

As Kushkumbayev emphasized, the event, which is taking place in Tashkent, attracted the attention of not only political circles and experts at the regional and trans-regional levels, but also at the level of the entire Eurasia. It opens up the prospect of connecting communications between the regions of Central and South Asia and involving a large number of countries in economic cooperation.

According to the expert, “of course, all players, both in the region and outside, are interested in stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan. We know how dramatically the events are developing in this country, and now at the site in Tashkent security issues, the involvement of Afghanistan in economic cooperation are being discussed.”

“Undoubtedly, both South and Central Asia were interconnected regions. In fact, the restoration of these routes and communications is very urgent, important and necessary at the current stage of international relations,” he concluded.
