Deputies support development of mediation institution
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has reviewed and approved, in its first reading, a bill aimed at developing the institution of mediation as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
The primary goal of the bill is to enhance pre-trial dispute resolution mechanisms and reduce the burden on the judicial system. It proposes an expanded scope for mediation, including granting notaries the authority to act as mediators in all types of cases regulated by the Law on Mediation.
Additionally, the bill introduces a mandatory qualification upgrade for mediators every three years and establishes clear regulations for the enforcement of mediation agreements.
The adoption of this bill will strengthen the protection of citizens’ rights, reduce court caseloads, and facilitate faster and more accessible dispute resolution.
