Deputies approve Government report on state program implementation in 2024
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis held a plenary session to review the report of the Cabinet of Ministers on the implementation of the State Program under the "Uzbekistan – 2030" Strategy in the "Year of Youth Support and Business" in 2024.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov presented the report, highlighting significant achievements in economic growth, social development, and environmental sustainability.
Key accomplishments include a 6.5% GDP growth, the expansion of preschool education coverage to 76%, the opening of 115 private schools, and the construction of 91 student dormitories. In healthcare, over 8.1 million children and 10 million adults underwent medical check-ups. Support for women remained a priority, with 197,700 women receiving loans worth 3.3 trillion soums and 548,800 women gaining employment.
The government also intensified efforts to combat poverty through the Online-Mahalla platform, which tracked assistance to 729,000 low-income families. Additionally, as part of the "Yashil Makon" national project, 225.9 million trees and shrubs were planted, and a 220,000-hectare forest was established in the Aral Sea region.
While acknowledging these successes, deputies emphasized the need for additional measures to meet extended deadlines and enhance ministerial accountability. Following discussions, the chamber approved the report and issued recommendations for improving the government’s efficiency.
