Demand for cars remains stable – CERR review

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An analysis by the Center for Economic Research and Reform showed that sales of new cars rose slightly in March, while the effects of abolishing fees for buying cars on the secondary market continue to have an impact. At the same time, a positive growth trend in the sale of cars in the domestic market remains.

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) regularly analyzes changes in sales in the car market.

In March 2022, 112.1 thousand vehicles were registered, which is 102% more than in March last year (55.5 thousand). At the same time, there is a decrease of 12.7% compared to February of this year.

The increase in car registrations as in previous months is due to the abolition of fees for the purchase of cars. In particular, the fee for the purchase and / or temporary importation of vehicles into Uzbekistan was canceled.

From 1 January 2022, the cost of state registration of cars purchased on the secondary market was reduced, and this trend continued to influence in March.

Secondary market

If in 2021 an average of 40 thousand cars were sold on the secondary market per month, then in March this year. this indicator amounted to 84.7 thousand units, in January - 85.3 thousand, in February - 101 thousand.

The number of cars purchased in the primary market amounted to 27.5 thousand units, an increase of 0.3% compared to February (27.4 thousand). Compared to March 2021 (18.2 thousand), car sales increased by 51%.

Sales of new vehicles increased significantly compared to last month in Fergana (43%), Namangan (23%), Jizzakh (20%) regions. At the same time, there was a decrease in Kashkadarya (-31%), Samarkand (-13%), Tashkent (-16%), Navoi (-7%) and Andijan (-5%) regions.

Sales of foreign cars

The number of contracts for the sale and purchase of foreign-made passenger cars amounted to 1.3 thousand, which is 2.5% less than in February.
