Delta - COVID-19 Strain recognized as most common in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Center for Advanced Technologies under the Ministry of Innovative Development published the results of a study of cases of coronavirus infection detected in Uzbekistan. According to the results of scientific research, the proportion of the "delta" strain is 82%, which is the highest in the entire history of observations. The second and third places are occupied by the "alpha" (10.3%) and 20A (7.7%) strains.

Commenting on the published data, Director of the Center for Advanced Technologies Shahlokhon Turdikulova noted: “Over the past weeks, the 'delta' variant of coronavirus has consistently exceeded four-fifths of the total number of infections. It is alarming that the so-called "Indian strain" causes severe forms of the disease much more often in comparison with the same "Wuhan" and "British" versions.

This radically changes the epidemiological picture as a whole: unfortunately, asymptomatic cases of the disease are recorded less and less, and the incubation period is shortened, exacerbating the risks of serious health consequences. The good news, however, is that our research confirms that current vaccines are effective against new strains as well. Vaccinated diseases, even in rare cases, carry COVID-19 relatively easily due to the impossibility of mutation of the virus directly in the human body. This is confirmed by the results of the third phase of trials of the drug ZF-UZ-VAC2001, obtained on 24 August. "
