Delegation of Uzbekistan held meetings in Georgia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade Sahib Saifnazarov visited Georgia on 22-23 February 2018.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek delegation held meetings with several ministries, departments and companies of Georgia in Tbilisi.

In particular, the delegation of Uzbekistan held talks at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. The parties discussed the issues of holding a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation in Tbilisi.

Within the framework of the meeting, Uzbekistan and Georgia intend to sign specific agreements and contracts, in particular, on cooperation in transport and logistics, use of transport corridors passing through Georgian territory, and the opening of a joint trading house in Tbilisi.

The delegation of Uzbekistan and Georgian Railway reached an agreement on further development of cooperation in the field of railway transport, effective use of international transport corridors and increase in the volume of transit goods transported by railways of both countries.

“One of the results of these negotiations was the provision by the Georgian side of a 50% discount on the transportation of all types of Uzbek cargo,” Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade Sahib Saifnazarov said.

The working group of Uzbekistan in the framework of meetings at the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia and Tbilisi City Hall presented the entire line of automotive and agricultural machinery produced in Uzbekistan. The meetings were also held with major regional car dealers.

“The Georgian side showed a keen interest in the products of the Uzbek automobile and agricultural machinery industry, proposing to take an active part in the tenders for delivery of buses for municipal needs and small-scale mechanization for agricultural enterprises,” Saifnazarov said.

Negotiations were also held with the Georgian authorities on development of winemaking and export promotion of wine products. In particular, following the results of the meeting at the National Wine Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, agreements were reached on the exchange of experience, the development of partnerships in viticulture and winemaking, and certification of wine and vodka products.

According to the memorandum of cooperation signed with the leadership of the National Center for Distribution of Vine and Fruit Trees, leading experts will be invited to Uzbekistan to study the raw materials base and establish priority areas for cooperation in the cultivation, laying and import of scientifically adapted grape seedlings.
