Delegation of Oliy Majlis participates in the Turkic States Parliamentary Assembly meeting
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis, led by Odiljon Mamatkarimov, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism, took part in the second meeting of the chairpersons of international affairs committees of the Turkic States Parliamentary Assembly (TURKPA). The meeting, held in Istanbul, brought together representatives from the region’s key parliaments.
The session was attended by delegations from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, and Northern Cyprus, as well as the Chairman of the Turkic States Parliamentary Assembly, representatives of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), and the Turkic Investment Fund.
Discussions focused on strengthening strategic partnerships among Turkic states, expanding interparliamentary cooperation, and fostering trust-based relations between the countries. Special emphasis was placed on multilateral engagement and coordinated efforts to implement joint initiatives.
The Uzbek delegation underscored the importance of open and pragmatic relations among Turkic state leaders as a solid foundation for further bilateral and multilateral collaboration. They highlighted the parliament’s key role in supporting and promoting international initiatives put forward by the President of Uzbekistan.
Particular attention was given to cooperation in socio-economic and political-legal spheres. Participants discussed mechanisms for parliamentary oversight of joint projects and agreements among Turkic states to enhance the effectiveness of bilateral and multilateral partnerships.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a joint statement was signed, reaffirming the commitment to strengthening interparliamentary ties. Participants agreed to continue working on reinforcing international organizations and coordinating actions within the framework of TURKPA.
The next meeting of the chairpersons of international affairs committees of the Turkic States Parliamentary Assembly is scheduled for September 2025 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
