Delegation of American Business Leaders Led by Illinois Comptroller Visits Andijan Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation of American business leaders, headed by Illinois State Comptroller Susana Angelina Mendoza, visited the Andijan region.
The guests were warmly received at Babur International Airport by the regional hokim, Shukhratbek Abdurakhmonov.
During the meeting, the regional head welcomed the delegation and emphasized that cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States is actively expanding, covering a growing range of areas—from trade and economic ties to cultural initiatives and educational programs.
The American delegation visited the Jome architectural complex in the city center, Registan Square, and explored historical monuments and exhibitions of national crafts. They toured the city’s main jome mosque, learning about its history, unique architecture, and significance for the spiritual life of the Uzbek people.
The delegation also familiarized themselves with the city’s industrial enterprises, including the DIROMM Jeans denim factory and DINAR GROUP, which produces textiles and household products. The visitors noted the high level of organization, the use of modern technologies, favorable working conditions for employees, and the quality and efficiency of production.
In the Oltinkul district, the delegation toured the Furniture Complex industrial zone, examining furniture manufacturing processes, trade activities, modern workshops, and an exhibition of finished products and fittings.
The American guests also visited the Babur National Park, touring the tomb of the military leader and poet Babur Mirza, and the museum Babur and World Culture.
In the village of Uchkyocha in Bulokbosh district, the delegation explored local viticulture, visiting farms specializing in grape cultivation and learning about traditional methods and regional production practices.
The delegation participated in a public celebration at the Alisher Navoi Cultural and Entertainment Park, engaging with local residents and experiencing national customs, clothing, cuisine, and art. They also sampled a traditional Uzbek dish, plov, prepared in a quantity of one ton.
During meetings and negotiations, the parties discussed opportunities for attracting American investors to Uzbekistan, particularly to the Andijan region, implementation of joint projects, and potential cooperation in service and logistics sectors.
