Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation headed by Sabina Mashl, the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan, paid an official visit to the Ferghana Region.

During the visit, a meeting took place at the regional hokimiyat (administration) with the participation of the First Deputy Hokim of the region, Mirzokhid Ubaydullaev, and Deputy Hokim Burhon Kuldashev.

The dialogue highlighted the steady strengthening of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Nations and its agencies, with a number of programs and projects being successfully implemented.

Special attention was given to the reforms initiated by the President of Uzbekistan, as well as efforts to develop friendly and close relations with neighboring countries, which are highly appreciated by the international community.

Delegation members also positively assessed the activities aimed at improving living conditions in the Ferghana Region and acknowledged achievements in the socio-economic sphere.

The meeting discussed expanding multifaceted cooperation with the Ferghana Region and implementing joint projects aimed at achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Promising areas of collaboration were considered, including poverty reduction, climate change mitigation, tourism development, job creation, migration issues, healthcare, education, and other important sectors.

As a result of the meeting, specific joint measures and practical steps were agreed upon.
