Delegation from Tomsk region visits Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the second half of November, a delegation from the Tomsk region, led by Governor Vladimir Mazur, visited Uzbekistan, according to the Dunyo news agency.
The delegation included representatives from the regional administration, heads of Tomsk universities, major industrial enterprises, agricultural holdings, and organizations.
During the visit, the delegation toured the Sirdarya region, where they familiarized themselves with the operations of the "Peng Sheng" industrial complex specializing in textile production, as well as a technological complex for producing packaging film.
Governor Vladimir Mazur emphasized the region’s readiness to develop mutually beneficial partnerships in the fields of economy, agriculture, industry, energy, science, technology, and culture. A particular focus was placed on the prospects for collaboration between the Sirdarya Industrial Zone and the Tomsk Special Economic Zone to increase trade turnover and production cooperation. As a result of the meetings, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two regions.
The delegation also visited the Tashkent region, where they held discussions with local authorities on cooperation in agriculture, livestock, industry, construction, energy, and electrical equipment manufacturing. Following these discussions, another Memorandum of Understanding was signed.
As part of the visit, constructive negotiations took place at Uzbekneftegaz and Uzkimasanat, where specific areas of cooperation were discussed. An agreement was reached to develop a roadmap for collaboration.
Representatives from Tomsk universities also met with the rectors of Uzbek educational institutions. The Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) discussed mechanisms for expanding student and faculty exchange programs. Special attention was given to cooperation with Uzbek universities preparing specialists in IT, information security, electronics, and aerospace industries.
At the Tashkent Chemical Technology Institute branch in Yangier, academic exchange programs and plans for 2025 were discussed. With the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, the parties agreed to further develop student exchanges and implement joint long-term scientific projects.
