Decision to introduce ‘spiritual examination’ of media products reversed
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Justice has announced that the proposed introduction of a so-called "spiritual examination" for media products has been reviewed. It was determined that the corresponding document contained mandatory legal norms affecting the rights and lawful interests of both individuals and legal entities.
Under current legislation, all legal acts issued by ministries and agencies must undergo state registration with the Ministry of Justice. Acts that fail to complete this procedure cannot regulate public relations and lack legal force.
As a result, the decision to implement the "spiritual examination" has been revoked, and the document itself has been withdrawn by the issuing authorities.
Experts from the Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment have been advised to submit analytical recommendations to the relevant authorities if media content violates the law. This would allow for appropriate measures to remove such content from circulation.
