Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At today’s meeting of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Defense and Security Issues, the issue of the formation of Davlatabad district within the city of Namangan, Namangan region, was considered.
Davlatabad district was founded on 29 August 1977 and occupied an area of 1125 hectares.
By the decision of the Oliy Majlis of 12 December 2003, the region was abolished and on 1 January 2004 it became part of the city of Namangan.
The composition of the newly formed district on the territory of 4686 hectares provides for the inclusion of an area of 1125 hectares of Davlatabad district, which operated until 1 January 2004, as well as the lands allocated to Namangan in 2016-2019 due to Kosonsoy (227 ha), Turakurgan (183 ha) and Namangan (2726 ha) districts, as well as 425 ha of Yuksalish mahalla in Namangan.
The new district includes 25 makhalla citizens’ gatherings, as well as the Namangan international airport, a total of 303 km of highways, 530 km of gas networks, 473 km of electric lines and 256 km of drinking water pipelines.
The population of the formed region is 140,000 people.
As the chairman of the Committee, Kutbiddin Burkhanov, noted, Davlatabad district will be included in the category of urban-type districts, a regional khokimiyat will be formed, which will increase the efficiency of management, ensure the high effectiveness of socio-economic development programs.
In the future, the process of urbanization will be accelerated through the construction of modern apartment buildings in the area.
