Current state of investment and trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 November, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade discussed the current state of investment and trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan, as well as measures to intensify bilateral economic cooperation, implemented in anticipation of a high-level visit to Japan.

The discussion, led by Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov, was attended by heads of ministries, industry departments, commercial banks, heads of regional departments of the Ministry in the regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Tashkent, responsible for investment and foreign trade, as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Japan G. Fazylov.

It was revealed that targeted work with leading Japanese companies, focused on developing mutually beneficial partnership mechanisms, which has been intensively carried out over the past few months, is already yielding results - at the moment, there are concrete achievements in a number of promising areas.

Counter-partners are engaged in an active dialogue, discussing the terms of cooperation and plan to come to final agreements in the near future.

During the discussion, topical issues related to the investment and trade agreements being worked out were also considered, as well as new promising areas of cooperation with Japanese entrepreneurs were studied.

The present managers and employees were tasked with quickly completing the coordination of the terms of the contracts and drawing up “road maps” for the implementation of the agreements reached with each individual partner.

Also during the meeting, issues of the performance of indicators of foreign trade activity by sectors according to the results of the past 10 months and planned measures to ensure the fulfillment of annual export forecasts were touched upon.

It was emphasized that the repeated visits of the Republican Commission on the development of export potential of regions and industries to regions and cities of the country made it possible to conduct a direct analysis of the existing industrial situation, on the basis of which it now becomes possible to make a forecast of indicators of foreign trade activity as close as possible to reality.

Based on the results of the discussion, the heads of industry departments and associations were given targeted instructions to ensure unconditional fulfillment of the declared export forecasts for the year and critically review the current export forecast for the period 2020-2022 in accordance with the real capabilities of producers in a given sector.
