Criminal liability to be toughened against systematic deliberate violators of traffic rules

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Concept of Public Security of the Republic of Uzbekistan was approved by the Presidential Decree.

According to the Concept, holding mass events and maintaining public order in parks, squares and markets is carried out by units of the National Guard.

In 2022-2023, convoy units within the regional internal affairs bodies will be gradually transferred to the direct subordination of the regional internal affairs bodies and reorganized in accordance with the principle of inter-district service based on a unified control system.

Until 1 March 2022, at least one inter-district patrol unit will be created.

Until 1 May 2022, a system for monitoring persons under escort by means of electronic bracelets will be introduced in the convoy activities of the internal affairs bodies.

From 1 September 2024, only employees with a higher legal education are appointed to the posts of senior inspectors for the prevention of the internal affairs bodies of the city of Tashkent, and from September 1, 2025, the rest of the territorial internal affairs bodies.

The decree also approved the Strategy for the Development of the Public Security System in Uzbekistan for 2022-2025.

In accordance with the Strategy, in the field of ensuring public safety, it is envisaged to implement the following:

- criminal liability is introduced to systematic deliberate violators of traffic rules, providing for a long-term deprivation of the right to drive vehicles;

- for every 5 makhallas, one makhalla law enforcement area will be organized on the basis of a standard project;

- In areas with "hotbeds of crime" at night, there will be an uninterrupted operation of automobile patrols, cavalry and infantry patrols, consisting of units of the National Guard.
