Criminal liability for resisting a person performing civic duty strengthened

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Law, envisaging amendments to the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Responsibility, was signed by the President of Uzbekistan.

According to the amendments, the criminal liability for resistance to a representative of authority or a person performing a civil duty is increased.

For such actions it is provided:

- Fine from 50 to 100 basic estimated values (previously up to 50 basic estimated values);

- Restriction of freedom for a period of 1 to 3 years (previously up to 1 year);

- Imprisonment for a term of 1 to 3 years (previously up to 1 year).

The Code of Administrative Responsibility also strengthened liability measures and increased fines for failure to comply with the legal requirements of a government official, employees of the internal affairs bodies and the National Guard.
