Criminal Case Opened Against Tashkent Emergency Officer

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A criminal case has been opened against a junior inspector of the emergency department in Tashkent’s Yangihayot district following a joint operation by the Tashkent department of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan.

According to investigators, the official was detained on suspicion of receiving US$1,500 from the head of a local limited liability company in exchange for abusing his official position.

Preliminary information indicates that the inspector, through colleagues, demanded money for issuing an acceptance certificate for fire safety equipment installed at the company’s facility.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 168, Part 3 (c), and Articles 28 and 211, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The suspect has been placed in pre-trial detention as a preventive measure. Investigative actions are currently ongoing.
