Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A resident of Namangan, born in 1999, left for the city of Istanbul in Turkey for seasonal work in September 2020. While working in a sewing workshop, he regularly listened to the sermons of the former leader of the terrorist organization "Katibatul Tawhid wal jihad" Abu Salah through the Internet, and as a result, he developed extremist views, the press service of the State Security Service reports.

Later, intending to join the ranks of the Katibatul Tawhid wal Jihad militants, he met two members of this organization via the Internet and in January 2021, following their instructions, he moved to Syria.

Having undergone combat training there, he was involved in the protection of the territory where the terrorist organization "Katibatul Tawhid wal jihad" was located.

As part of the fight against terrorism, in June 2022, his actions were stopped, and he was taken to Uzbekistan, where a criminal case was initiated against him by the Investigation Department of the State Security Service.

By the verdict of the Turakurgan district of the criminal court, this citizen was found guilty under part 1 of article 155-2 and part 1 of article 244-2 of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 9 years in prison.
