Court Suspends Operations of MAXAM-CHIRCHIQ Over Environmental Violations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 November 2025, the interdistrict economic court of Chirchik temporarily suspended operations at MAXAM-CHIRCHIQ JSC until the company addresses a series of environmental violations.
According to the court, an inspection of the facility uncovered 11 breaches of environmental regulations. These included insufficient efficiency of its dust and gas treatment system, excessive emissions of pollutants, storage of chemicals outside designated areas, elevated concentrations of chemical substances in water, and incomplete or delayed compensatory payments.
The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change submitted a petition requesting the suspension of the plant’s activities until all violations are resolved.
MAXAM-CHIRCHIQ is one of Uzbekistan’s major chemical producers, specializing in ammonium nitrate, urea, nitrogen fertilizers and industrial chemicals.
