Court Fines “Miss Earth 2025” Contestant for Violating Uzbekistan’s Law on State Symbols

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Mirabad District Criminal Court reviewed an administrative case against 21-year-old Sh. M., who was found to have violated Uzbekistan’s legislation on state symbols.

According to the case materials, on 28 October 2025, Sh. M. participated in the international “Miss Earth 2025” pageant held in Manila, the capital of the Philippines.

On stage, she wore an outfit featuring the colors of Uzbekistan’s national flag and emblem, and later posted photos of herself in this costume on her Instagram account.

During the court session, the young woman explained that her costume was inspired by the state symbols, but noted that elements such as the crescent and twelve stars from the flag were not included—only the color scheme was used.

The plaintiff argued that the use of state symbols as clothing elements constitutes a violation of the law, regardless of artistic intent.

The court found Sh. M. guilty under Part 1 of Article 203-1 of Uzbekistan’s Code of Administrative Responsibility, “Violation of the Legislation on State Symbols,” and imposed a fine of two base calculation units, totaling 824,000 soums.
