Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An international scientific and practical conference "Impact of the pandemic on Central Asia: first lessons, coronacrisis and prospects for transformation" is being held in Tashkent on 16-17 September in an online format.
The Forum brought together participants from among statesmen and public figures, prominent experts, world-renowned scientists, leaders and specialists of leading research centers from 18 countries of the world, including the countries of Central Asia, the USA, Russia, Great Britain, France, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Belgium, Spain, Israel, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus.
The conference is organized by the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in cooperation with the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan.
During the event, participants discuss topical issues of the pandemic, the first lessons learned, recommendations for the countries of Central Asia to overcome the coronavirus crisis and improve global and regional preparedness for such emergencies.
Speaking at the conference, Vice-Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy for Science and Innovation Gulnoza Ismailova noted that no country in the world will be able to ensure its own security and sustainable economic development by suppressing the coronavirus only on its territory while the pandemic continues in neighboring countries and other parts of the planet. ...
G. Ismailova believes that the pandemic has demonstrated the degree of irreversible interdependence between all states. In this regard, she stressed the importance of harnessing the opportunities provided by globalization, as well as international synergies in countering transnational threats. At the same time, as pointed out by the vice-rector of the UWED, the scientific community can become a strong support for states in managing such crisis situations, for which it is important to develop close cooperation between scientists and experts from different countries to find common and effective responses and solve urgent problems of sustainable development and prevent global crises ...
According to her, the coronavirus crisis has become a litmus test for assessing the potential and competence of every state in the world, and despite many difficulties, the regional response in Central Asia indicates that most of these countries have developed the necessary capacity.
At the same time, G. Ismailova noted, today it is vitally important to trace the interconnection of the new strategic situation in Central Asia in the context of the current global coronacrisis, to outline the prospects for interaction and mutual assistance in stabilizing the situation and achieving regional sustainable development.
