Cooperation with UN Women to be taken to a new level

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 December this year, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with Ulziysuren Jamsran, representative of UN Women in Kyrgyzstan.

During the conversation, issues of deepening cooperation between Uzbekistan and UN Women were discussed, in particular, further intensifying the activities of this organization in our country, creating a Center of Excellence in Uzbekistan aimed at ensuring gender equality and joint implementation of other promising projects.

Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbaeva stressed that in recent years Uzbekistan has been systematically working to ensure the interests of women, taking into account the recommendations of the UN. It was especially noted that with the organization of the Dialogue of Women Leaders in Central Asia, cooperation with the UN Women has become systemic. It was emphasized that the main priority areas within the framework of programs and projects implemented jointly with UN institutions, in turn, are fully consistent with the goals and objectives of the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy.

In turn, Ulziysuren Jamsran noted with satisfaction that Uzbekistan, as one of the most active countries in ensuring gender equality in the world community, is implementing specific measures, including the Strategy to achieve gender equality until 2030, approved in 2021. She put forward a proposal to create a new unique area of cooperation, explaining that Uzbekistan, promoting advanced initiatives in the international arena, introduces standards that serve as an example for everyone.

Based on the foregoing, the issue of establishing a Center of Excellence in Tashkent was discussed. It was emphasized that this center serves to promote the experience of Uzbekistan on a global scale.

At the end of the conversation, an agreement was reached on further strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and UN Women.
