Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 May 2021, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva met with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament for Industry and Development of the Republic of Indonesia Rahmat Gobel.
In the past four years, the Uzbek-Indonesian ones have received new development in all areas, including in the field of inter-parliamentary relations.
The Vice Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament highly appreciated the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan. “We saw what a huge work is being carried out under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to preserve historical monuments and study the religion of Islam, as well as a rich cultural heritage,” he stressed.
The parties, noting the significant untapped potential of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres, expressed interest in deepening and expanding fruitful interaction through the implementation of specific joint projects in priority areas for the two countries.
During the meeting, issues of increasing the efficiency of the Uzbek-Indonesian Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation were discussed.
An interest was emphasized in the development of cooperation in the fields of textile, chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, tourism, culture, education, gender equality and others.
The parties expressed interest in further expanding cultural and humanitarian contacts between the two countries, including encouraging educational projects and exchanging students and teachers, studying the Uzbek and Indonesian languages in educational institutions of the two countries, scientific and academic activities, medicine, pilgrimage tourism and other areas.
Noting the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary interaction, the parties confirmed their readiness for regular exchanges of visits at various levels, emphasized the importance of a constant dialogue, as well as contacts of specialized committees of the chambers of parliaments of Uzbekistan and Indonesia, which certainly meets the interests of further deepening Uzbek-Indonesian cooperation in the interests of the peoples of the two countries.
