Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Agency for the Protection of Consumer Rights has blocked more than 10 websites of bookmakers. This was reported by the press service of the Agency.

The agency notes that bookmakers are illegal in Uzbekistan. According to article 191 (gambling and other risk-based games) of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, as well as article 278 (organization and conduct of gambling and other risk-based games) of the Criminal Code, this type of activity is still illegal.

At the same time, according to Article 6 of the Law "On Advertising", it is prohibited to disseminate information in advertising about products, the production or sale of which is prohibited by law, including about sweepstakes and bookmakers.

“Despite the fact that the work of bookmakers is illegal, the online bookmaker market is actively developing through the World Wide Web,” the Agency notes.

Employees of the Agency for the Protection of Consumer Rights, on an ongoing basis, study the compliance of advertising information posted on social networks with the requirements of advertising legislation. So, over the past period, together with the Agency for Information and Mass Communications, access to more than 10 illegal sites has been restricted. Work in this area continues.
