Consulate General of Uzbekistan opens in St. Petersburg
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A grand opening of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan was held in St. Petersburg (Russia) on 14 March 2018, the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

It was attended by the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in St. Petersburg V. Zapevalov, acting Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the city S. Markov, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Leningrad Region A. Minin, representatives of the Uzbek diaspora, journalists.

Speakers at the ceremony noted that the opening of the consulate general is an important step aimed at protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Uzbek citizens abroad, as well as developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the regions of Russia.

"The government of our city pays great attention to strengthening partnership relations with Uzbekistan," the governor of St. Petersburg, Georgy Poltavchenko, said in his greeting. "We highly appreciate the mutual desire to expand cooperation, organize visits and many other mutually beneficial projects."
