Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 April, an opening ceremony of the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in the city of Samarkand. 

The opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan Darkhan Satybaldy and the khokim of Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov.

The consulate will carry out tasks for the development of investment, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on the opening of the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the city of Samarkand on 23 September 2020. Until now in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan had only an embassy in Tashkent.
