Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Construction has begun on two new waste-to-energy plants in the Bukhara and Surkhandarya regions, designed to generate electricity through the processing of household waste, the Agency for Waste Management reported.

The waste-to-energy complex in the Kagan district of Bukhara region is being developed by Wangneng Environment with an investment of US$165 million. The plant is expected to process 547,500 tons of waste per year and produce 400 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.
The plant in the Angor district of Surkhandarya is being constructed with the participation of CHSET. The project cost is US$150 million, with an annual processing capacity of 438,000 tons of waste. The planned electricity output is 75 million kilowatt-hours per year.
