Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 17 April, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, via video conference, launched a construction of the Tashkent Pharma Park Innovative Scientific and Production Pharmaceutical Cluster in Zangiata district of Tashkent region.
During the teleconference, the head of state got acquainted with the plans and work begun on the implementation of this project, aimed at organizing the production of innovative drugs, medical products and equipment with high quality characteristics, meeting the needs of the population in these products, training modern personnel, as well as developing domestic pharmaceutical industry as a whole and the creation of effective infrastructure.
By a resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted in January of this year, the concept and plan of practical measures for organizing the cluster were approved.
To this end, 79 hectares of land have been allocated in Zangiata district. It is planned to create the only modern pharmaceutical cluster in the region with the creation of more than 1700 new jobs through the implementation of 14 investment projects.
The cluster will consist of an industrial park and an industrial zone.
The industrial park will house sectors of academic, scientific activity and drug development. In particular, it is planned to create a Pharmaceutical Technical University, which will train highly qualified personnel in the field of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, cosmetology and other areas on the basis of international educational standards.
The industrial zone will house the production facilities of leading pharmaceutical companies.
In the future, it is planned to open here foreign clinics, medical centers, and expand the infrastructure of the cluster.
An agreement has been reached with the Cooperation Fund for the Economic Development of South Korean Eximbank on financing scientific and educational structures of the cluster with a long-term loan.
The Board of Trustees and the Directorate of the Innovative Scientific and Production Pharmaceutical Cluster “Tashkent Pharma Park” were formed. The functions of the directorate will be carried out by the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The new cluster will be the first of its kind science campus and will create a solid foundation for the development of the entire industry. Widely applying international experience, attracting foreign investment and advanced scientific developments, introducing innovative solutions and high technologies, it will bring domestic pharmaceutical science and industry to a new level.
