Construction Begins on Uzbek-Russian Agro-Logistics Center in Kuva
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Construction has begun on an agro-logistics complex worth US$50 million in the Kuva district of Ferghana Region as part of the Uzbek-Russian joint venture LLC “Energy-land,” the press service of the Ferghana regional administration reported.
The opening ceremony was held via videoconference with the participation of Ferghana Region Hokim Khayrullo Bozorov and Governor of Omsk Region, Russia, Vitaly Khotsenko.
Investors, district officials, and representatives of the public attended the event.
The project includes the construction of a processing facility with a capacity of 20,000 tons of fruits and vegetables per year, cold storage warehouses for 30,000 tons, a hotel, and related infrastructure.
It is expected to create 500 jobs and organize the export of agricultural products worth up to US$100 million annually.
Khayrullo Bozorov highlighted the importance of the complex for the Ferghana Valley and for access to Russian and international markets, while Vitaly Khotsenko noted the strategic significance of Uzbek-Russian cooperation and the high demand for Uzbek fruits, vegetables, and textiles in Russia.
During the ceremony, the official start of construction was marked with the laying of the first stone of the future center.
