Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A ceremony of handing over laptops on behalf of the Congress of Bukharian Jews of the USA and Canada (Congress) for their further sending to schools in Kungrad district of Karakalpakstan was held at the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN, Dunyo news agency reported.
The event was attended by President of the Congress Boris Kandov and editor-in-chief of the Bukharian Times newspaper Rafael Nektalov.
As Boris Kandov noted, the community of Bukharian Jews, living in the United States and uniting more than 50 communities, treats its historical homeland - Uzbekistan with great respect and love. Bukharian Jews are making active efforts to popularize the rich culture, centuries-old traditions and history of the Uzbek people in the United States, to bring to the American public objective information about the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan in the spheres of democratization of society and modernization of the country, as well as efforts to ensure interfaith tolerance. He also noted that one of these areas is education.
“The government of Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is doing everything to ensure that the younger generation has the opportunity to improve knowledge and skills by using the latest computer technologies,” said Boris Kandov. - In this regard, and as a sign of goodwill and gratitude to the Uzbek people, who did a lot for the formation and prosperity of Jews, especially children and adolescents who received a good education in Uzbek schools, the Congress decided to send 10 computers as humanitarian aid - laptops "Samsung" in educational institutions of Uzbekistan ".
