Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the twenty-first plenary meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Law "On hydrometeorological activities" was discussed.
The law defines such basic concepts as monitoring of environmental pollution, hydrometeorological information, hydrometeorological phenomena, processes, hydrometeorological activities, specialized hydrometeorological information, a buffer zone, emergency hydrometeorological information, general hydrometeorological information.
The law also fully specifies the basic principles, facilities, subjects of hydrometeorological activity, and specialized organizations.
In accordance with the law, official warnings, forecasts and other hydrometeorological information related to ensuring the safety of life of the population, preventing possible damage, are provided to its consumers only by a specially authorized state body.
The document also stipulates the rights and obligations of producers and consumers of hydrometeorological information, the procedure for organizing and carrying out hydrometeorological activities, their financing, international cooperation in this area, liability for violation of legislation on hydrometeorological activities and a number of other norms.
The adoption of the law will contribute to the further improvement of scientific methods of hydrometeorological activities and observation and processing of information, the development of a system for providing state and economic management bodies, other organizations, the population with hydrometeorological information, further strengthening of regional and international cooperation in this area, the introduction of innovative technologies.
The law was approved by the senators.
