Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The national competition "Gender Equality Activist" was announced at an event organized by the Commission on Gender Equality of Uzbekistan jointly with the Ministry for Support of Mahalla and Family, the Dunyo news agency reported, citing the information service of the upper chambers of parliament.
The event was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of ministries and departments, employees of representative offices in Uzbekistan of such international organizations as the UN Population Fund, the International Labor Organization, and the UN Development Program.
At the meeting it was noted that the purpose of the competition is to draw public attention to the issue of achieving gender equality in Uzbekistan, and to increase the level of work in this direction.
The competition is attended by ministries and departments, non-governmental non-profit organizations that have achieved high results in the field of gender equality, come up with initiatives to develop society in this direction, and fulfill urgent tasks to protect women's rights.
The competition is aimed at ensuring gender equality in each ministry and department, organization, introducing gender approaches into the activities of ministries and departments. In addition, the task is set to identify, generalize and promote the best practices of state and non-governmental organizations in the field of gender equality.
During the event, the organizational work for the national competition "Activist in the field of gender equality" was discussed. The participants exchanged views on the timing of the competition, the appointment of the jury, selection criteria for participants and the holding of the award ceremony.
